Kindling

I look over at you and you and you

and inside my mind a thousand thumpings

of the heart, your hearts, my heart,

quickened gasps and sidelong glances

cast in primal fits of ecstasy dancing,

yelling around the hearth-fire during the

longest night of the year, your eyes

blue, brown, moonlit, flickering,

wet skin sweaty bodies dank air,

the tingling that spreads up the arms

down the legs all around everywhere

then all at once tightens and breathes,

our forms alive with heat burning turning

surging once flesh, now flame, now light.
